FPGA Implementation of an LTE Based OFDM Transceiver for 2x1 MIMO

In this paper, we present a real-time implementation of 2×1 MIMO system using the Alamouti scheme. The real-time chain is based on the LTE parameters. The testbed is implemented using FieldProgrammable Gate Array (FPGAs) through Xilinx System Generator for DSP. Time-domain synchronization is achieved through a joint maximum likelihood (ML) symbol-time and carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimator through the redundant information contained in the cyclic prefix (CP). Channel estimation uses a pilot scheme similar to the one prosed for LTE. Results show that a complete Alamouti scheme can be efficiently implemented using an FPGA.
